Travel Information on Los Angeles

The Palace Theatre, built in 1911 as the third home of the Orpheum vaudeville circuit in Los Angeles, is the oldest remaining original Orpheum theater in the country. Reminiscent of an early Renaissance Florentine palazzo, the fa?ade is playfully adorned with multicolored terracotta swags, flowers, fairies, and expressive theatrical masks. Large panels portray the four muses of vaudeville, sculpted by noted Spanish artist Domingo Mora, celebrating Song, Dance, Music and Drama. Inside, the d?cor has a decidedly French flavor.

Recently acquired by developer Tom Gilmore and Associates, the Palace’s spirit lives on with plans to renovate the theatre and turn it into a venue for live entertainment.

Location: 630 South Broadway
Hours: Tour access only
