INDIAN MYTHS & ANCIENT MYSTERIES

Kennewick Man, an ancient human skeleton said to be 9,200 years old, give or take a century or two, sits in a vault while a federal judge decides what to do with it. The discovery took place in a park along the Columbia River in Kennewick, hence the name.  However, check with the Tri-Cities Visitors Bureau (1-800-254-5824) as word has it archeologists are preparing to refill the site to protect it from erosion, although local native Americans wishingto preserve their sacred burial ground are trying to prevent that.

Seattle's sacred mound, marking the spot where the world was created according to Indian folklore, sits on Poverty Hill along the Duwamish River in Tukwila. It might be possible to imagine the primordial beginnings and 30 million-year-old fossils yielded from this mound, although mountain bike wheelie landings form the most prominent marks on it today.
