In 2000, the world came to Hannover. The first world exposition held in Germany attracted millions of visitors to the Lower Saxony capital. One of the most interesting sights was the German pavillion. Built under the motto, "Courage for the Future", the pavilion was divided into three parts: the "Idea Workshop", with 47 prominent German intellectuals, the multimedia show, "Bridges to the Future", and the "Media Garden", in which all of Germany's states were presented.

Another highlight was the "Cycle Bowl" of the recycling partnership, the "Green Point". On display were innovative and exciting ways of dealing responsibly with the environment.

But the city of Hannover also has a lot to offer visitors after the end of the EXPO. You can see a bit of the city on a stroll through the downtown area, and then later visit the Herrenhouser Gardens. The huge baroque garden is one of the oldest of its kind in Europe and, with about 50,000 summer flowers in bloom, a great place to recover and relax in summertime.
