Ireland

An Ghaeilge

Give your Valentine an Irish greeting!

Searching for just the right words to express your overwhelming feelings of adoration for that special someone this Valentine’s Day? Say it as Gaeilge!

To say “I love you” to your beloved, you should say
"Tá grá agam duit." (TAW GRAW AH-gum ditch)

How does this translate into English?

Tá= is
grá = love
agam= “at me” or “on me”
duit= “for you”
So, "Tá grá agam duit" literally means “Love is on me for you.”

Other Irish terms of endearment include
A mhuirnin (uh WOOR-neen) Sweetheart
A chroí! (uh KHREE) Heart
A rún! (uh ROON) Love

If you’re feeling really sappy, you can get more flowery:

“A chuisle mo chroí” (uh KUSH-luh muh KREE) means “pulse of my heart”
“A ghrá mo chroí (uh GRAW muh KREE) means “love of my heart”
“A chiste is a stór” (uh HISH-che us uh STOHR) means “treasure chest and treasure”
