Every sailing enthusiast dreams of - once in a lifetime - sailing off over the horizon aboard a tall ship with its sails billowing in the wind. On the "Swan van Makkum", anyone can make this dream come true. Visitors can "sign onto" the elegant two-master for a day trip or a longer cruise. Those who want to can also lend a hand with the ropes, experiencing the wind and waves at close quarters. But if you'd prefer to be pampered, you're also in excellent hands here on the world's biggest brigantine.
Eight of the 18-head crew devote their time exclusively to the wellbeing of their guests. In the summer months, the sailing swan travels the North and Baltic Seas and can be chartered for cruises by groups of up to 32 people. On day trips, when passengers do not have to sleep on board, the ship can comfortably accommodate as many as 120. And if you're so hooked that you don't want to stop any more, you can accompany the "Swan van Makkum" into warmer climes during the winter months.
