Find the best deals on accommodation in Germany here!

For decades, sailing has been far and away the most popular sports and leisure activity on the Baltic, and Kiel is no exception. In fact, once a year the state capital of Schleswig-Holstein actually becomes the hub of the water sports world. Towards the end of June the international sailing elite meets here to battle it out at the Kieler Woche. Every year, thousands of sailing fans come to the "Kieler Forde" for the world's biggest sailing event. But there are all sorts of other sailing activities available to tourists too. From March to September the sailing camp is open to children and teenagers, and of course to their families.

The aim of this camp is to promote the next generation of sailors, and anyone is welcome to join in and participate in beginner's courses, one-day sailing trips and all sorts of training programmes. And to get some background knowledge you might like to visit the last German sailmaker who still sews sails by hand.
