Germany's Gourmet Temple

Find the best deals on accommodation in Germany here!

Our last destination in today's program takes us into the world of palatal pleasures. In our gourmet special we visit three of Germany's most renowned restaurants, and peek over the shoulders, so to speak, of some of the country's best chefs. We begin our culinary journey in Hamburg at the famous Landhaus Scherrer. Heinz Wehmann is in charge of the kitchen here, which specializes in fish and other North-German seafood delicacies. The restaurant also has an almost legendary wine cellar with more than 12,000 selected bottles of fine wines. Next, we travel to the edge of the Black Forest to the town of Baiersbronn in Baden, and meet a chef whom many consider to be Germany's most distinguished, Harald Wohlfahrt. The emphasis in Wohlfahrt's restaurant, Traube Tonbach, is on French cuisine. Finally, we meet chef Heinz Winkler in his restaurant, Residenz Aschau, not far from Bavaria's beautiful Lake Chiemsee. Winkler, who learned his craft under the great master of 'Haute Cuisine', Paul Bocuse, has long since proven that he is a master chef in his own right.
