Fehmarn Activities, Germany

Germany's Baltic islands are popular holiday destinations, particularly now, in summer, when their beaches invite you to sunbathe and swim in the sea. Fehmarn- - the third largest island in the Baltic Sea after Rogen and Usedom, with an area of 185 square kilometres - is no exception there. But when it comes to active holidays, Fehmarn is indeed something of an exception; because the opportunities in this respect really do stand out.

Silo climbing, for example, scaling disused grain silos free-handed, is something you'll only find on Fehmarn. You can work your way up to a height of 40 metres on the specially prepared walls, and apart from the sense of success you will also be rewarded by magnificent views of the island. And Fehmarn also has plenty to offer in the "classical" disciplines of sailing and windsurfing. For the latter, one of the best places to go is the windsurfing school at Wulfener Hals; while those arriving without a boat of their own and wanting to charter a fast, comfortable yacht should head for the harbour of Burgstaaken. Sailing the seas around Fehmarn always promises to be an unforgettable holiday experience.
