The East Frisian Islands , Germany

Find the best deals on accommodation in Germany here!

Our last report takes us to the East Frisian islands. Just a few miles from the Lower Saxony mainland lies a completely different world. Cars are banned almost everywhere, so you can enjoy the untamed charm of the North Sea in its unadulterated form. The islands are very close to each other, making island hopping an obvious choice whether by ferry or by light aircraft. Our first stop is the seaside resort of Norderney, which can look back on a long tradition. Aside from elegant white facades, the largest of the East Frisian islands has extensive nature reserves, wide expanses that invite you to go on solitary walks through salt marshes and never-ending dunes. Norderney is also a perfect place for surfers. The ideal wave for newcomers can be found off the Januskopf. The island of Juist, the world's most beautiful sand bank, has a unique beach, 17 kilometres long, and we will also be walking on the mudflats, right across the Wattenmeer National Park. Extensive dunes and beautiful, untouched countryside can also be found on the island of Baltrum, the North Sea's Sleeping Beauty. Elegant seaside resorts and untouched nature the East Frisian islands offer something to suit every taste.
