Storrs Hall

Erected in the eighteenth century by the Storrs family of Lancashire shipping magnates, Storrs Hall is a commanding grade II listed Georgian edifice built on a 17 acre wooded peninsula on the shores of Lake Windermere. So secluded is its position that it is locally famous as the only house on the lake from which no other building is visible.

For many years sadly derelict, the hall has now been renovated and re-established in its original splendour as the setting for a magnificent new hotel and restaurant. Interiors have been restored to their former generous proportions, sumptuously decorated, and furnished with antiques, fine works of art, and a unique collection of model ships to reflect the maritime origins of the wealth which first built the hall. The eighteen guest rooms and suites are equally regal, the majority of them commanding spectacular views of the Lakeland scenery which surrounds the hotel. The hall's library and writing room are discreet oases of contemplation, while in the south-facing Terrace Restaurant haute cuisine of the highest standard is served with fastidious care in a setting which offers unequalled and seemingly unending views across Windermere to the wooded fells beyond.

The Lake District is internationally renowned as a region of breathtaking natural beauty; Storrs Hall occupies an exceptionally favoured position within the area, and is an ideal base from which to explore its many scenic, cultural, and historic attractions.
