The Priory Bay Hotel

The Priory Bay derives its name from the magnificent and sheltered sandy bay above which the Cluniac monks established a monastery in the 10th century. Remnants of the original buildings are assimilated within the hotel's gardens.

Continuing the imaginative redevelopment undertaken in the 1930's by the American heiress Mrs St George, the current owners have created a haven of peace and luxury between two of the premier sailing resorts on the island. The accommodation includes 9 double rooms, 7 premier rooms, and 9 family suites, all with en suite facilities and each delightfully decorated to create its own unique character.

Making extensive use of local produce and its own gardens, the daily changing menu reflects the chef's emphasis on fresh ingredients, notably game in winter, while the Priory Oyster which opens during the summer months specialises in the excellent seafood in which the area abounds.

Occupying 70 secluded acres, the Priory Bay is the ideal location from which to explore the historic and scenic attractions of the Island. The hotel's grounds include tennis courts, an outdoor swimming pool, a nine-hole golf course, mature woodlands, a private beach, and gardens which reflect the influence of Gertrude Jeckyll who, with her friend Sir Edwin Lutyens, was a regular visitor to Priory Bay.
