South Padre Island Spring Break
The populated and commercialized portion of South Padre is only about 4 or 5 miles long and about 1.5 miles wide - but they have used this space wisely. There are more than enough bars, clubs, and beachfront activities to entertain any hardcore Spring Breaker. They also have another 30 plus miles of largely unpopulated beachfront and dunes, where offroading, beach parties, and skinny dipping are encouraged. And contrary to popular belief, there are things going on in South Padre both before and after Texas Week, although you shouldn't tell any Texans that. If you ever find yourself motivated to venture off of SPI, you can take the trek across the border into old Mexico. With the border being so close and transportation readily available and cheap, it's almost stupid not to take some time to visit Mexico if you're on South Padre Island. When enjoying your time on SPI, make sure to treat the "Winter Texans" with some semblance of respect, as they are the people that live and work on SPI year-round, keeping it ready for Spring Break and cleaning up after it.
