Spring Break

Daytona Beach Spring Break

Daytona Beach can be credited with making Spring Break the American phenomenon that it has become in the 21st Century. It was Daytona that first brought Spring Break to the forefront of America's collegiate consciousness, making it the social event of every year.

Daytona Beach introduced the Spring Breaking population to uncontrolled weeks of all-night party binges, big-name concerts on the beach or at the hotel pool, and driving on the beach. Driving on the beach at Daytona is one of the truly original Spring Break activities, and although other places now offer beach driving, nothing quite compares to cruising the sand at Daytona.

Through the 70s and 80s, Daytona grew to represent all that was right, wrong, and truly insane about Spring Break in America. The nightlife at Daytona is still second to none and the police and local authorities have honed their skills at making sure that Breakers stay within some proximity of the law, without really limiting any good-natured madness. If you're going to make the trip to Daytona, it's a good idea to have some wheels or to get them when you're down there. Taking an early afternoon drive on the beach at Daytona is a great way to get in touch with your Spring Break roots - and it's a great way to pick up new and friendly passengers.
