537 000 SCANDINAVIANS IN POLAND IN 2006
Year 2006 has turned out extremely successful for us promoting Polish tourist attractions in Scandinavia and Finland.
Nearly 540 thousand of glad tourists from the area visited Poland in year 2006, with major growths in number of tourists from each country.
The changing attitude towards Poland as an attractive destination shows best on the example of Norwegians.
Poland fulfills their demands and thanks to the expansion of low cost flights and promotion activities of Antor.org the number of arrivals from Norway grew by over 25 per cent compared to year 2005.

A PROSPEROUS START
Antor.org organized Polish national stands during tourist fairs in Oslo, Helsinki and Copenhagen in January.
We want to thank all visitors of our stands, branch representatives and subexhibitors for making this year's fairs such a success.

LAST CALL FOR SKIING LOVERS
This is the absolute last call for winter attraction lovers.
We present out suggestions for those who love winter sports and leisure in the snow and would like to enjoy them in Poland.

  • Karkonosze Mountains – the highest chain of Sudety mountains, with wonderful conditions for skiing.

  • Karpacz – the major resort in Karkonosze, with a great access to Sniezka, the highest mountain of Karkonosze.

  • Kudowa Zdroj – situated in Klodzko valley, is a spa with curing waters.

  • Polanica Zdroj – also perfect in the wintertime due to the unique properties of it spring waters and the location in Klodzka Valley.

  • Szklarska Poreba – a resort in Karkonosze.
    The little town in the top of skiing season guests almost as many tourist as it has inhabitants.
    There are two chair lifts that will take you to the Mountain Szrenica, where the network of ski trials is situated.
    Due to snow making facilities, you can ski on Szrenica from November till April.

  • Szczawnica – perfect in the wintertime, when skiing and snowboarding fans can enjoy excellent skiing routes.
    They are fully illuminated and, if necessary, artificial snow is produced.
    The ski runs have different levels of difficulty, so both the beginners and experienced skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts should be satisfied.

  • Szczyrk – situated in Beskidy – with the Mountain Skrzyczne is definitely one of most attractive Polish skiing resorts.
    The facilities and attractiveness of Szczyrk make it easily compete with major resorts in Alps.

  • Wisla – in Beskidy, a place where world cup in ski jumps holder, Adam Malysz was born.
    It is also where the biggest Polish river Vistula springs.

  • Zakopane – winter capital of Poland.
    Nestled at the foot of Tatra Mountains, the highest range of the Carpathians.
    Zakopane hosts tourists and winter sports lovers, international sports events and mountain climbers.
    The most famous skiing area is Kasprowy Wierch, but one can find many, many more great alpine slopes and cross-country skiing trials.
    Zakopane is surrounded by many picturesque little villages and settlements with excellent accommodation facilities.

26th International Sailors' Song Festival Shanties 2007 in Krakow is a feast for all those who love the sea and the music of it.

15 thousand square meters of pools, jacuzzi and saunas at the very bottom of Tatra Mountains opened in Zakopane.

Krakow hostels best in the world
Over half a milion guests of 12 thousand hostels associated in Hostelworld.com voted for their favourites in 2006 and elected two of Krakow hostels.
"The best hostel" award went to Mama's Hostel and "the best location" to Flamingo Hostel.
Mams's hostel gained appreciation because of the internet access and breakfasts included in the price, while Flamingo was elected because of its proximity to the best clubs and discos in the city.

Safer on the slopes
Special snow police patrols were introduced in Malopolska region.
Specially trained policemen (all of them are skiing instructors) take care of skiers safety and protect them from thieves.
The experience from last year shows that this kind of patrols managed to decrease the number of thefts by 30 per cent.
