Backpacker Hostels, Germany

Find the best deals on accommodation in Germany here!

Over the past few years, almost unnoticed by the locals, a new category has gradually been emerging in the German accommodation scene, known as backpacker hostels. As the name suggests, these inexpensive hostels are mainly intended for backpackers from all over the world. They have no closing hours or age limits, and most of them are found in town centres offering 24-hour service and an easy-going atmosphere. Mitte's Backpacker Hostel in the German capital Berlin has existed since 1994 and was the first of its kind in Germany. In the heart of Cologne, right next to the main railway station, lies the Station Hostel for Backpackers. Here travellers not only share the roof over their heads, but also the kitchen, washing machine and Internet access facilities. In Hamburg's hip Schanzenviertel, the Instant Sleep Backpacker Hostel welcomes visitors from all over the world. And while the in-crowd convenes in the Bar Rossi below, an international exchange takes place in the hostel above over eating, sleeping and hanging-out habits.
